Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel and Short Thyroid Panel
Fibromyalgia, hot flashes, and sleep problems.
This woman had a variety of symptoms including muscle pain, trouble with sleeping, and hot flashes. She had used prednisone but was not using any hormone product now. The doctor had addressed her problems with the Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel (PHP1) and the Short Thyroid Panel (STP).
We found low DHEA, low estrone, and normal testosterone. Estradiol and estriol both were in the target range. Progesterone was low, at the level we would expect without augmentation. However, a higher level would help with long-term health and probably relieve some current symptoms.
The thyroid results showed normal TSH, T4 and T3. Thyroid microsomal antibody levels were negative. Thyroid function seemed good.
The doctor was going to consider giving a little sublingual DHEA and a physiologic dose of sublingual progesterone. I also suggested the doctor consider using the Adrenal Stress Index (ASI) to look more closely at adrenal function.
Warm regards,
Dr. Mark Rhodes, Ph.D.
