Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel
Hair loss.
This patient's main complaint was hair loss. The doctor began with a Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel (PHP1) to look at her ovarian hormone levels.
The test showed: high DHEA and testosterone, low estrone, and high estradiol. Estriol and progesterone were both in their respective bio-identical hormone replacement therapy target ranges.
At her age, and with her high testosterone, she might have an ovarian cyst. If so, it may be creating high androgens including dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is associated with hair loss in men and women. The doctor could have ordered the Male Hormone Panel (MHP) to quantify her androgen levels.
The high DHEA also makes me think that she could benefit from an Adrenal Stress Index (ASI) to see how her adrenals were functioning.
Warm regards,
Dr. Mark Rhodes, Ph.D.
