Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel
HRT and a brain tumor.
The patient had a brain tumor. She was taking Estrace and Prometrium prescribed by another doctor than the one I was talking to. "My doctor" had ordered the Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel (PHP1) to check on the patient's ovarian hormone levels. I think doctor and patient were even more concerned than normal because of the brain tumor.
The test results showed that the patient had very low DHEA, slightly high testosterone, and low estrone. Estradiol and estriol were in the target range, but progesterone was well below the target range.
The patient might consider taking sublingual DHEA and using the Adrenal Stress Index (ASI) to check into her adrenal function. She might also want to change to a sublingual progesterone preparation to improve absorption and her progesterone level.
Warm regards,
Dr. Mark Rhodes, Ph.D.
