Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel
To be healthy.
This patient just wanted to be healthy. Her OBGYN was pushing her toward HRT. That often means cross-species estrogen (Premarin) and synthetic progesterone (Provera) neither of which is human! Our bodies are created to work properly using very specific hormonal cues. Cross-species and synthetic hormones do not work exactly like the true human hormones. So I was very glad to help this doctor use the real thing to help her patient.
We were using the Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel (PHP1) to check on the patient's ovarian hormone levels.
We found low DHEA, normal testosterone, and low estrone. Estradiol and estriol were in the target ranges for long-term health. Collectively, her estrogens were pretty good. That is, estrone is fairly weak compared to estradiol which was at a healthy level. Progesterone was well below the target range.
The patient might consider taking sublingual DHEA and using the Adrenal Stress Index (ASI) to check into her adrenal function. She might also want to use sublingual progesterone to get it up to the long-term healthy range.
Warm regards,
Dr. Mark Rhodes, Ph.D.
