Long Post Menopause Hormone Panel

Follow-up after high values.

This patient had exhibited high testosterone and estrogen levels on a previous Female Hormone Panel (FHP). Instead of running the whole 11-sample FHP again, the doctor ordered the Long Post Menopause Hormone Panel (PHP2) to get an idea of how well her hormone-reducing protocol was working. The protocol consisted of liver support supplements and fiber to help the liver and digestive tract removal of the excess hormones. With the PHP2, the patient tried to take one sample each in the follicular and luteal phases of the cycle.

DHEA was borderline low in both phases. Testosterone was elevated in both phases. Estrone was normal or low. Estradiol was high for the follicular phase and normal or high-normal for the luteal phase. Estriol was normal. Progesterone was a little high for the follicular phase and a little low for the luteal phase.

The patient test values had improved some compared to the previous test. However, she had some hot flashes and some spotting indicating she was peri-menopausal and that hormone balance had not been achieved yet.

The doctor was going to try graduated doses of sublingual progesterone during the luteal phase. If that does not relieve the hot flashes, she may add sublingual estrogens, too.

Warm regards,

Dr. Mark Rhodes, Ph.D.
