Adrenal Stress Index

DHEA and whole licorice extract.

A few months ago, this elderly patient used the Short Post Menopause Hormone Panel (PHP1) and Expanded Gastrointestinal Health Panel (GI2) to assess several health problems. Based on those results, she has been avoiding dairy and gluten, taking colloidal silver for an organism and AmlaPaste to boost her immune system, and exercising. Since then, she has felt much better. Now she was using the Adrenal Stress Index (ASI) to measure adrenal function and put the finishing touches on her new health status.

She had stopped taking her sublingual DHEA a few days before taking the saliva samples for the ASI. On the test, her DHEA was low. Morning and noon cortisol were a little low. Immune response (salivary SIgA) was depressed.

She will continue with the sublingual DHEA. To raise the cortisol in the first part of the day, she will take whole licorice extract first thing in the morning. The licorice is used to inhibit the enzyme that breaks down cortisol. That way, the cortisol that is there will last longer (its half life is increased). She will continue to take the AmlaPaste and exercise both of which help to raise the immune response.
