Short Thyroid Panel

Exhausted with no reserve energy.

This patient had a history of mercury poisoning. She had been removing much of the accumulated mercury and seeing some results. However, now whenever she did something a little out of the ordinary, she ended up exhausted as if she had no built-in energy reserve. The doctor used the Short Thyroid Panel (STP) to look at thyroid function.

The STP showed a very high free TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) value and a normal free T4 (L-thyroxine). That combination indicates a sluggish thyroid that requires high stimulation to work.

The patient also showed low free T3 (triiodo-thyronine) and negative TPO (thyroid microsomal antibodies). Normal T4 with low T3 indicates that the patient's liver is not functioning well in that the liver is the main source of conversion from T4 to T3.

Therefore, because the thyroid and liver both need help, the doctor will consider using Thyro-Dyne and virgin coconut oil. In my opinion, the patient would be a good candidate for the Adrenal Stress Index (ASI) to determine if and how adrenal function might be improved.

Warm regards,

Dr. Mark Rhodes, Ph.D.
